Frequently Asked Questions
How do I request roadside service?v
Open the RoadLift app, confirm your location on the map, choose a service (towing, tire change, lockout, fuel delivery, or battery boost), review the price estimate, and confirm. A nearby provider will be dispatched to you, and you can track them in real time.
How is the price calculated?v
Each service has a transparent base fare plus a travel fee that depends on how far the provider has to drive to reach you. The total estimate is shown before you confirm - there are no hidden surcharges. If a job requires extra work beyond the original request, the provider will discuss any added cost with you before proceeding.
What payment methods do you accept?v
We accept all major credit and debit cards, as well as Apple Pay. Payments are processed securely through Stripe - RoadLift never sees or stores your full card number.
Can I cancel a request?v
Yes. You can cancel at no charge before a driver accepts your job. Once a driver has accepted and is en route, a cancellation fee may apply (a percentage of the job total). The cancel button is available on the live tracking screen.
The app says no drivers were found - what do I do?v
If no driver accepts your request within the search window, you will see a "no drivers found" screen with two options: Try Again re-runs the search at a wider radius, and Cancel Request cancels with no charge. We do not charge you unless a driver actually accepts the job.
How do I dispute a charge or rating?v
Open the job in your job history and tap Open a Dispute. You can attach photos and a description. We review every dispute within 5 business days and will email you with a resolution. You can also email [email protected] directly. Refund requests must be submitted within 14 days of the job.
How do I become a RoadLift driver?v
Sign up in the app and select "Become a driver" during onboarding. You will need to upload your driver's licence, insurance documents, and equipment photos, and complete Stripe Connect onboarding so we can pay you. Once approved, you can go online and start accepting jobs. Payouts arrive in your bank account within 2 business days of a completed job.
I'm a driver and a job request did not come through - why?v
A few common reasons: you may not be online (toggle on the dashboard), you may be outside the dispatch radius, the customer requested a service you have not unlocked yet, or your Stripe Connect onboarding may not be complete. Check the Stripe Onboarding screen in settings, and make sure location permissions are set to "Always" so we can keep your position updated in the background.
How do I delete my account?v
Go to Settings - Privacy & Data - Delete Account. This removes your personally identifying information from our active systems within 30 days. Job records and receipts are retained in anonymized form for 7 years for tax and legal purposes (see our Privacy Policy).
Where is RoadLift available?v
RoadLift is available now on iPhone in Canada with growing service areas. Open the app to see live coverage in your region. Android support is coming soon.
Is my data safe?v
Yes. All data is stored on Canadian servers (AWS ca-central-1), encrypted in transit and at rest, and we comply with PIPEDA. Read more in our Privacy Policy.
